Canada Shuts Riyadh Embassy Amid Regional Security Concerns

(MENAFN) Canada’s embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, announced Tuesday that it has temporarily closed due to the current security situation.

In a post on the social media platform X, the embassy said all in-person appointments are canceled through Friday, March 6, citing safety concerns.

The closure comes amid heightened regional tensions following a joint US-Israeli military campaign launched Saturday against Iran, which reportedly killed several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has since retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf states hosting US military assets, further escalating instability across the region.
