Russia Warns Trump’s Actions Could Trigger World War III
In remarks carried by a Russian state news agency, Medvedev portrayed current US foreign policy as an effort to maintain worldwide supremacy through force. He characterized Washington’s approach, alongside its allies, as a struggle to uphold global dominance.
"If Trump continues his insane course of criminally changing political regimes, it will undoubtedly begin. And any event could be the trigger. Any event," he warned.
Medvedev suggested that tensions have heightened following Iran’s declaration of a holy war, claiming that American and Israeli leadership figures now face greater exposure to potential retaliation. He argued that Tehran’s response so far has been measured, attributing it to limited options rather than restraint.
"The fact that the Iranians haven't responded too seriously yet means they don't have many opportunities. But they know how to wait; they are an ancient civilization," he said.
The former Russian president, who held office from 2008 to 2012, also criticized Trump’s recent decisions, describing them as a serious miscalculation with far-reaching consequences.
"Trump made a grave mistake."
He went on to argue that the move has increased risks for US citizens, regardless of regional political dynamics.
"With his decision, he put all Americans under potential threat, even despite the fact that the Iranian regime is not liked in neighboring Arab countries.”
Medvedev further emphasized the religious and geopolitical implications surrounding the reported death of Iran’s supreme leader, referring to him as a unifying spiritual figure for millions of Shiites worldwide.
“More importantly, the late Ayatollah (Ali Khamenei) was the spiritual father of nearly 300 million Shiites. And now he is also a martyr. You can imagine the rest. And now there is no doubt that Iran will pursue the creation of nuclear weapons with redoubled energy," he said.
