Sudan Accuses RSF of 'Genocide'
"Sudan addresses this assembly at the moment of profound national tragedy, and deep international concern," Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Abdelazim Salim Mohamed stated during a high-level United Nations General Assembly session commemorating the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide.
He highlighted that civilians in El-Fasher and other regions have suffered mass killings, sexual assaults, forced displacement, and intentional destruction of evidence.
"Acts, in their scale and intent, meet the legal definition of genocide," Mohamed emphasized. "These crimes committed by the rapid support forces militia are not hidden. They are documented. They are public. And they demand more than an expression of concern. They demand accountability."
Sudan called on the global community to transform condemnation into "concrete, lawful, and decisive measures to protect civilians."
Mohamed also urged immediate actions to stop arms shipments and military backing to the RSF via regional and international channels, implement targeted sanctions on those orchestrating or funding atrocities, refuse safe havens to individuals promoting violence, and strengthen international cooperation to prevent exported weapons from reaching non-state armed groups.
