North Korea, Russia Strengthen Cultural Ties

(MENAFN) North Korea and Russia have engaged in discussions to expand their joint efforts in cultural and artistic fields, according to a report by a news agency on Monday.

This mutual understanding emerged following a meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, which took place in Pyongyang on Sunday.

As stated by the news agency, the gathering occurred at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers' Party.

Also present at the event was Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexandr Matsegora.

The talks followed shortly after the visit of Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, marking his second trip to Pyongyang in under two weeks.

Lyubimova had arrived in the North Korean capital a day earlier, leading a cultural delegation to commemorate the first anniversary of the two nations’ comprehensive strategic alliance agreement.

During the conversation, Kim praised the "broad and in-depth" interactions and collaboration occurring across numerous domains since the agreement’s ratification, highlighting their significant impact on mutual progress and the prosperity of both peoples.

Lyubimova noted that her journey coincided with a period in which the "solidity and invincibility" of the alliance between North Korea and Russia is being exhibited more vividly than ever.

She also emphasized that their shared cultural engagement had reached its "highest level ever."
