Iranian Advisor Says Israel Threatened Iran’s Leadership
Ali Larijani made this declaration while appearing on state-run television. He emphasized that Israel’s objective extended beyond targeting institutional frameworks—it aimed to challenge the very core of Iran’s governance by directly threatening the leadership in a bid to destabilize the nation.
Larijani explained that “the enemy calculated that it could quickly dismantle the state structure by targeting senior Iranian officials during a leadership meeting. The next step was to threaten the leader of the Islamic revolution directly.”
This, according to him, was part of a broader plan to fracture Iran’s governing foundation.
He further asserted that both Israel and the United States had misjudged the resilience of the Iranian populace, mistakenly assuming that public backing for the regime would erode amid external aggression.
He added, “the strong unity and resistance of the people forced Israel to reconsider its goals.”
Larijani stated that by June 21, it had become evident that Israel was unable to fulfill its strategic ambitions, prompting intervention by third-party mediators.
In addition to the warnings directed at several senior figures, Larijani revealed that he personally received a message giving him a 12-hour ultimatum to evacuate Tehran.
“I also received a message saying I had 12 hours to leave Tehran. Otherwise, they said I would share the same fate as the late commander Gholam Ali Rashid and Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bagheri, but I gave them a response befitting someone like (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu,” he remarked.
This revelation, shared during a tense time of conflict, underscores the depth of psychological and strategic tactics employed in the confrontation between Israel and Iran, as reported by state media.
